Steel Rebar Trade Terms Explained

MOQ, price basis, payment, documents, and loading — the terms steel importers usually confirm first. Every term below is confirmed together with your grade, quantity, and destination before quotation.

MOQ and order size

We work with practical container or break bulk quantities. Send your target quantity and we will check matching mill and supply options; smaller trial orders can be discussed with stock availability.

Container quantity: discuss by diameter mix
Break bulk: 500-1,000+ tons typical for direct mill discussion
Trial orders: subject to current stock

Price basis (Incoterms)

Quotations are given per ton on the basis you prefer. FOB is the most common starting point for steel export inquiries from China.

FOB — main Chinese port, mill and freight discussion included
CIF / CFR — destination port freight added on request
DDP — discussed for specific destination markets

Payment

Payment terms are confirmed per order size and relationship. Standard export practice for steel trading:

T/T — common deposit + balance before shipment structure
L/C at sight — discussed for larger project orders
First order — terms agreed case by case

Documents

Export documents are prepared together with the shipment and can be arranged to match your customs and bank requirements.

Mill test certificate (MTC) — per heat / batch
Commercial invoice and packing list
Certificate of origin — discussed by destination
Bill of lading per shipping line

Packing and marking

Rebar is bundled with wire rod and marked with grade, diameter, and heat number. Bundle weight can be adjusted for destination crane and truck limits.

Bundle weight: standard mill practice or customized
Marking: grade, size, mill, heat number
Rust surface: minor mill scale is normal for export rebar; oiled / special treatment on request

Loading and lead time

9 m / 12 m bars need a clear loading plan — we discuss truck, break bulk vessel, or container options with the mill and forwarder before you commit.

Lead time: confirmed per quantity and mill schedule
Loading: break bulk or 20'/40' container options
Inspection: third-party inspection (SGS/BV) can be discussed
